Lester and Annalise: Interview on Our Story
Retell Our First Date:
When Lester offered to pick me up from my house and take me out for a late lunch, I was a bit wary. Being raised on crime dramas, I couldn’t help but think it had a bit of a serial killer vibe. But then, on my way to meet him, my car started acting up, so he ended up having to pick me up anyway! The date turned out to be fantastic—he looked even better in person! When he dropped me off, he leaned in for a kiss, and right at that moment, my mom pulled into the driveway! So, he met my mom on the first date and, surprisingly, that didn’t scare him away!
How and Where Did He Propose?
Lester proposed on December 28th, 2023, in the beautiful country of Croatia. I had spent over a year on exchange there previously and wanted him to meet my host family, so we decided to spend Christmas and New Year’s there. One day, we went to Plitvice National Park, a breathtaking place filled with waterfalls. We hiked over 7 miles to see everything, and every time I wanted to take a photo, Lester insisted on taking one in a particular spot because of the view. I thought it was a bit odd, but I agreed. When we finally reached that spot, he set up his phone to take a video instead of a photo. After posing for what I thought was a picture, he turned to me, said, “I love you, will you marry me, ” and got down on one knee! The man carried that rock for seven miles!
What Do I Love Most About Him?
I love Lester’s confidence in himself and his unwavering belief in his values. He’s incredibly generous, never keeping score, and always giving freely in his friendships.
What Attracted Me to Him at First?
Honestly, his thigh tattoos caught my eye initially. But personality-wise, from the very first date, he made me feel safe to be myself. And now, I absolutely adore his mustache!
What Does He Love Most About Me?
Lester loves that I’m never afraid to be myself around him and that I’m always setting and working towards new goals.
What First Attracted Him to Me?
He was drawn to my eyes and my long hair. Plus, he appreciated that I could hold a good conversation!
Our Engagement Session
Our engagement session took place in the enchanting rose garden at Furman University. The photos turned out like a scene from Romeo and Juliet. We had a great time and our love for each other truly shone through in the pictures.
